From Cervia, after crossing part of the pine forest, you ride along the saltpan. Then you enter the Savio cycle path, which from Castiglione leads to Cesena, to leave it in the direction of Forlì, following white gravel roads, wheat fields, sunflowers, peach and apricot orchards that give a different colour each season. Near Forlì you climb up the embankment of the Ronco river and following its course, you reach the sea.
Towards Ravenna the landscape changes completely. You cross Classe, with an (almost) obligatory stop to admire the marvellous mosaics of the early Christian Byzantine basilica of Sant'Apollinare. Then you return to the pine forest, crossing the Ortazzo and Ortazzino valleys with their watchtowers. You then proceed towards Cervia.
