La Divina cycle race
Non-competitive historical re-enactment with vintage bikes built before 1987 and period clothing.
It takes its origins from an idea of some vintage cycling enthusiasts on the occasion of the ‘Dante 700’ celebrations, inspired by a photo showing some young velocipedists from Ravenna riding their bicycles during the Dante celebrations of the seventeenth anniversary in 1921.
The intention is to publicise the excellence of the natural sites, monuments, culture, food and wine, as well as to celebrate the athletes and cyclists of the land of Romagna.
The event is included in the calendar of the Giro d'Italia d'Epoca.
The Ciclostorica La Divina consists of two routes, of about 65 and 40 kilometres, called Long and Short respectively.
The long route starts and finishes in Cervia, passing through Cesena, Lizzano, Bertinoro, Villa Inferno and Cervia.
The short course starts and finishes in Cervia, passing through Milano Marittima, Lido di Savio, Lido di Classe, Pineta di Classe, Savio, Cervia.
Throughout the entire route there will be a controlled pace behind FIAB guides who will maintain different cruising speeds (from 15 to 18kmh - from 19 to 22kmh).
The clothing required must be vintage and in keeping with the year the bicycle was produced.
By virtue of the organisational alternation between the municipalities of Ravenna and Cervia, the 2024 edition, the last stage of the Giro D'Italia D'Epoca, will start from Cervia in the shadow of the Torre San Michele
