Heavy fists. Levers against war
Saturday 1 February at the Municipal Theatre in Cervia, Pugni pesanti. Leve contro la guerra by and with Denis Campitelli, directed by Alberto Grilli, lights by Marcello D'Agostino, costumes by Angela Pezzi, a Teatro Due Mondi production.
The show is based on the incredible true story of Anselmo Mambelli, a boy who managed to survive the horrors of war thanks to his passion for boxing. During the Second World War, the protagonist Anselmo, a young peasant from Romagna, boxing promise and small weight champion, is enlisted and sent to North Africa in 1940. Although he is used to fighting, war is an entirely different matter; there is no such thing as a fight, only survival and winning at all costs.
