Endless Summer
At the Magazzino del Sale in Cervia Endless Summer, a group exhibition of contemporary art organised by MAGMA.
Endless Summer is inspired by light, by the suspension of summer time, and is rooted in a suspended temporality, evoking summer as a mental condition even before the weather, as an experience in which intensity is mixed with fleetingness.
The project takes its name from the documentary ‘The Endless Summer’, directed by Bruce Brown and released in 1966. In cinema, surfing, pop culture and collective narratives, summer is often represented as a mythical time, a time outside of time, a place where desire and nostalgia merge. The exhibition evokes precisely this paradox, the idea of a summer that never ends, that extends beyond its own duration and reveals itself for what it really is: an impossible dream, a glow that endures despite knowing it is destined to fade.
The exhibition is a curatorial and perceptive experiment, an invitation to experience it as one experiences summer: with the awareness that everything is intensely present, yet already fading away.
