Russi
Near to this important archaeological site there is also the Villa’s Antiquarium and the Art Gallery whilst in the historic centre of the town there are the remains of the Mediaeval castle and close to the banks of the Lamone river is the 17th century Palazzo di San Giacomo.
Like the rest of Romagna, Russi is also a great place to eat and drink, with traditional dishes that include cappelletti al ragù, filled pasta in a meat sauce, and bel e cot, a type of sausage, washed down with a glass of some of the fine local wines which include Canena, Trebbiano and Uva d’Oro.
Hospitality and festivals are the trademarks of Russi; every September it celebrates the ‘Feast of the Seven Sorrows’, the oldest festival in the region which dates back to the 17th century and is connected with the Servite Order of monks who lived in Russi at the time.
It is held in the third week of September and features a wide array of musical and cultural events, as well as fine food celebrating the best of Romagna. There is so much more to tell you about Russi, but have we persuaded you to come and discover it for yourself?
