Around the world in 80 Kites
From 1 to 13 October at the Magazzini del sale (Salt Warehouse) in Cervia, the exhibition ‘Il Giro del Mondo in 80 Aquiloni’ (Around the World in 80 Kites) will be staged, featuring many examples of extraordinary beauty, original creations, and artefacts of age-old tradition from more than 80 countries around the world. The kite is celebrated as a symbol of a harmonious relationship with the environment and nature, conveying the ‘spirit’ of the art of wind.
In addition to the exhibition, there will be educational workshops, lectures, guided tours, music and insights,
An appointment not to be missed for all fans of the world of kite flying.
Admission to the exhibition is free, workshops by appointment.
Edition 2024:
Also on display for the occasion will be precious early miniature works by Makoto Oyhe from Toyama and some of the most important Masters of the Wind of the Rising Sun such as Masaaki Sato and Kengo Nagata, authors of the Nagoya insect kite and Yukjo Akiyama, inventor of the kinetic kite, to name but a few.
A true homage to Japan, the country that more than any other has developed the kite tradition in an extraordinary variety of forms and meanings. In fact, the exhibition is realised under the patronage of the Japanese Cultural Institute in Italy, ASCIG Associazione Scambi Culturali Italia e Giappone and the Japan Kite Association, and also marks the twinning between the Kite Museum's collection and the Tako-No-Hakubutsukan Kite Museum in Tokyo, presenting for the first time in Europe more than 20 kites from Tokyo at the behest of its Director Masaaki Modegi and collector Kenzo Suzuki.
The exhibition also offers a profound reflection on the value of environmental sustainability through the traditional materials used, such as washi paper and bamboo.
Precisely for this reason, it is the perfect opportunity to present ARTEVENTO's new partnership with AIMSC Associazione Italiana Musei della Stampa e della Carta, with the intervention of its President Nella Poggi Parigi.
